I'd think that a bluegrass lineup would throw in non-bluegrass jam as well. Like Umphrey's, Cheese, moe., etc. STS9, Lotus, The Biscuits, etc would be in an awkward in-between, but I could totally see this happening.
Phorest - Yeah, another great festival, and I have to say that, as a year round resident of Rothbury, I am amazed at the scale of the production you put together, and how you manage to do something so big and yet it's almost like it springs up overnight, as if the elves brought everything in and set it up while we were all sleeping. This was brought sharply into focus when I had the chance to bring my older brother to the SCI show on Sunday night. He is a survivor of the Sixties, and when we arrived at the Ranch Arena stage I asked him when the last time he was at a show this big. "Never" came the reply, he said he'd seen the Grateful Dead at outdoor venues 4 or 5 times (Sixties survivors do occasionally have memeory lapses, I couldn't concieve of not remembering how many times I'd seen the Dead), but never anything approaching this size. So, I express my gratitude to you, and all the rest of the folks who bring the best damn party of the summer to my backyard, for doing so with such a minimum of fuss in getting it ready to rock.

Crazy how the time goes. Another year down, and now we can anticipate the future of what may be held at the Double JJ with Mad house and AEG now bonded by the hip.
I have been part of the production for 4 years now, and attended every event at the resort. This year I thought came out as a pretty successful festival for event organizers, and I hope this leads to bigger/better things in the future. Electric Forest has quickly become an icon during the summer Festival season and I'm glad to be a part of the production that takes place during the month of June. With that being said I hope everyone had a great year/season and I hope that all of the events you guys attended had the best weather possible. Keep the threads coming... I enjoy everyone's input on what/how they feel on different things that come up throughout the year.

No worries! However, you probably wouldn't fit in his because he has a size 30 waist. We found that pair on etsy, every once in a while I'll go on there and type in jnco or kikwear just to see if anything comes up. When I found those I about had a heart attack because his old pair have huge holes in them and the ones online were the perfect size.
I dang lol I was hopeing to purchase them lol I've been looking for those jeans forever lol cannot find any my size 34waist only smaller lol if he ever wants to sale please let me know. I'm a huge jnco collector also if he has any others he would sale let me know:) looking 34-36waist
yeah, idk about those two monopolizing the midwest jam scene. you have to sacrifice a lot of bands for summer camp if you went there over phases and vice versa. i'll never be able to see umphreys at phases and i would never be able to see cheese at summer camp.
Planning on going for the first time this year. Flying in from Detroit to Jacksonville. Any advice for a general admission camper? Stoked for the second line up addition even though I am content with what is already there.
Sup neighbor?! We're flying from DTW to Valdosta Regional Airport. I just bought tickets a few days ago. Valdosta is about 0.5 hours north of Suwanee. The only carrier is Delta and I think there's only a Hertz in the airport, but it was still relatively inexpensive. I think the tickets were about $317/seat. Car rental for a Focus was around $160 + fees I'm not privy too yet.
I wear my rothbury 2009 shirt around forget the lineup is on the back and people stop me and are like, "wait man im reading that shit, holy fucking shit thats the best lineup ive ever seen in my life"... Ive taken the shirt off just to read the lineup again and again and it really is something else. Like literally holy fucking shit. read that lineup. and then read it again.
Yeah, that was the most incredible line-up from the opening night (Zappa) right on through to the end of the weekend. THe line-up was so much more accessible that more neighbors came out to enjoy it. I still make my way over every day for EFF, but my Queen finds fewer and fewer acts that get her enthused to come along, and the local residents hardly come at all anymore, making me a lone supportive voice in township meetings and conversations with neighbors.
The other thing about Rothbury was that, even during those times when I didn't go, I could still listen to a decent sound while out on my lake fishing. The EDM only seems to drive the bass (the sound, not the fish, although thst is a funny concept) through the trees. I don't mind that the festival includes some EDM, even caught EOTO when I came over early for Umphrey's, and I would describe it as visually stunning, sonically creative, but two guys with switches and tape machines doesn't feed the jones for musicianship that this old Deadhead craves.
I truly missed a nice mix of jamgrass this year that was so common in the past, and it seems that a wider scope of acts in that genre were not in the lineup to make room for more EDM.
Two festivals would be fine with me, I just might do what some of my neighbors (who don't know or remember how to rock) do when EDM fest arrives, leave town for the weekend.
